We are dedicated to:

Promoting respect for Human Rights, including national and international laws, providing judicial review and legal support services to people proven to be falsely accused, due to errors made in the criminal justice process.

Promoting Human Rights by raising public awareness about cases of human rights violations through publication and dissemination of objective information.

Legal Strategy

Our Department of Legal Affairs fulfills the following tasks:

Carefully reviewing requests for assistance;
Updating our database of victims of wrongful convictions each time a case brought to our attention meets our criteria and definition of a Falsely Accused Person.
In partnership with the victims and their representative, elaborating legal strategies to ensure the following of the due process;
Working on legal recourses on each specific case, such as ‘Amicus Curiae’, appeals, and complaints both at national and international levels
Providing victims with supervised pro bono lawyers when necessary;
Monitoring the situation of victims inside prisons to avoid abuses and cruel treatments, and ensuring their security.

Media and Information

The Presidency of EN VERO, the Department of International Affairs. and EN VERO‘s local representatives fulfill the following tasks:

Publishing objective information concerning individual or global cases of wrongful convictions and conclusions of our investigations;
Share media content related to current cases in our official languages (French, English, Spanish);
Being the voice of people who are isolated and condemned to silence in the media;
Implementing campaigns across social media regarding cases of wrongful convictions.

Empowering the Victims

We consider isolation to have a major negative impact on the capacity of the incarcerated to exert their rights to a fair defense. In order to empower the victims, we are committed to:

Making secure means of communication available for the victims, their families and human rights activists whose safety and security are threatened;
Maintaining regular contact with the victims and/or their representatives through these secure means of communication;
Implementing measures aiming to ensure physical and psychological safety of the victims and their families
Visiting people who are incarcerated and their families;
Offering psychological support to the victims and their families.
